Louisiana ranks in the top five states with the highest rates of food insecurity and poverty. Ethan Jeffus, a student at Louisiana Tech, sought out to fight those numbers almost a year ago by opening the first of many little food pantries across north Louisiana.
Louisiana Tech University junior Ethan Jeffus has been named a Truman Finalist. The Truman Scholarship is a highly competitive national scholarship program in the United States that seeks to identify and support outstanding students who plan to pursue careers in public service. Newly declared Louisiana Ambassador and local philanthropist Ethan Jeffus launched a new initiative known as “Little Free Pantry Louisiana.” A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held outside of the Sibley Town Hall to officially declare the new pantry open for business.
In 2020 Ethan was featured as a part of the PBS American Portrait Series where he was asked to discuss what he stands for.
Ethan was declared the 2020 Champion of Service by Volunteer Louisiana and the Louisiana Lt. Governor's office for his philanthropic works.

The year 2020 marked the third annual Warming Elders Tootsies project. Although the project looked different during uncertain times, it remained a success creating an invaluable impact on the lives of nursing home residents. As shared in the article, over 500 new socks were collected and gifted to nursing home residents.
In 2018 Ethan made a live appearance on KTBS during Motorcycle Awareness month to spread awareness for motorcycle and road safety. Additionally through his role in American Bikers Active Towards Education (ABATE), Ethan shared information about the organization's "Share the Road" program and statistics of accidents caused by distracted driving.
Press release to announce Ethan's successful campaign resulting in him being elected International Director of Junior Civitan International. The election took place during the 2019 Junior Civitan International Convention held in Washington D.C. Through this role Ethan continued to champion service and volunteerism through overseeing thousands of members in hundreds of clubs around the world that are dedicated to making the world a better place.
